Indiana Jones Release Date Revealed at Star Wars Celebration
Our Favorite Archaeologist Makes a Surprise Appearance
The newest adventure of Indiana Jones has a release date, announced today at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim. The fifth installment in the beloved series arrives June 30, 2023.
In dramatic fashion, maestro John Williams and the Pacific Symphony Orchestra surprised thousands of ecstatic fans with a rendition of the iconic “Raiders March,” which first debuted with Raiders of the Lost Ark over forty years ago. Fittingly, the music served as an introduction for none other than star Harrison Ford, director James Mangold, and producers Frank Marshall and Kathleen Kennedy.
As thousands of surprised fans cheered on, Ford paid tribute to Williams, who celebrated his 90th birthday earlier this year. “It’s a special honor for me to be able to congratulate John,” the actor said. “We all know about what John does musically,” he continued. “What you may not know—what I’ve come to really appreciate—is the warmth, the generosity, the boyish spirit of this man. The most gracious man, the gentlest, kindest man, and a wonderful, wonderful talent that we’re blessed with, all of us.”
Ford would go on to reveal the forthcoming release date, explain that “we have almost completed the next Indiana Jones film… I have had a wonderful experience working with James Mangold, with Kathy, with Frank. I am really proud of the movie that we made. So I’ll be seeing you on campus…”
The surprise announcement concluded Lucasfilm’s Studio Showcase, which kicked off the festivities at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim.
