Indiana Jones’ Golden Medallion Belongs on Your Christmas Tree

Put together this paper pendant inspired by Indiana Jones and the Great Circle for holiday décor worthy of a museum.

In Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, a stone door hiding unknown mysteries behind it can only be opened by an ancient medallion. It’s fallen into the clutches of the Nazis, and it’s up to one brilliant adventurer to find it: you! As Indiana Jones, you’ll discover invaluable artifacts like the Golden Medallion on your journey to solve the mystery of the Great Circle.

You can get your hands on the medallion in real life when you make one yourself. Use this exclusive template and the directions below to DIY your own! Hang it on your Christmas tree this holiday season or just hang on to it in case it opens any secret doors. (You never know.)

You’ll need:

  • Medallion template
  • Paper cutting machine or scissors and craft knife
  • Gold foil cardstock paper
  • Double-sided tape
  • Black acrylic paint
  • Paint brush
  • Paper towel

Get Started

The activities in this article should only be done with adult supervision.

Step 1: Use the medallion template to cut out two solid circles and one bird circle from gold cardstock paper.

Step 2: Attach the two solid circles together with double-sided tape, gold sides facing out.

Step 3: Stick the bird circle to the solid circle, with gold visible through the cut-out shapes.

Step 4: Dip your finger or a dry paint brush into black acrylic paint. Swipe it across the front of the medallion and inside the cut-outs.

Step 5: While the paint is still wet, gently wipe it off with a paper towel. Leave enough paint in the inside recesses and the surface to define the shapes and add an aged look.

Step 6: Paint the edges of the paper black and let dry.

Step 7: Flip the medallion to the solid back side and repeat steps 4 and 5.

You now have your very own Golden Medallion in hand. What secrets will you uncover with such a rare artifact?
