ILMxLAB Launches New Interview Series

ILMxLAB has launched “Inside the Studio: Our Stories,” an interview series thats highlights the career journeys of our colleagues in Lucasfilm’s immersive entertainment division. As ILMxLAB continues to pioneer a new era of interactive storytelling through virtual and mixed reality experiences, they are introducing readers to a few of the many people helping to make that happen. These interviews will explore their day-to-day work and career paths as you discover what it’s like to tell stories in the Star Wars galaxy.

Associate experience designer Olivia M. and performance technical director Matt C. are the first participants in the series. Both found a passion for video games during childhood, which eventually led each of them to their careers in immersive entertainment. “As cheesy as it sounds, I’ve always enjoyed ‘escaping’ reality and exploring new worlds,” says Olivia M., who still enjoys gaming today. “As I grew older, I wanted to help make those awesome experiences that I enjoyed so much from a young age.”

In his own interview, Matt C. notes the importance of kindness and positivity in an industry that continues to grow. “If you aren’t constantly learning, you’re going backwards,” he says. “The industry is constantly evolving, developing new tools and software…. Always be nice, humble, supportive and leave a positive impression.”
